: District Collector Babu A. said people visiting Vijayawada can soon access a whole lot of information about the city by just swiping touch-screens at the ‘Discover Vijayawada’ kiosks being set up by CISCO, which is implementing Golden Mile project on M.G Road on a pilot basis.

At a review meeting on sprucing up the city for Krishna Pushkaram on Wednesday, Mr. Babu said a couple of such kiosks were already set up at PVP Square and Trendset Mall and they needed to reflect the local culture and traditions besides making information about the topography and welfare schemes available.

In addition to these kiosks, smart lighting is to be installed on the main roads to give the city a resplendent look.

Mr. Babu r said steps were taken for setting up surveillance cameras at junctions and other important public places. The information kiosks would also provide data on a real-time basis of the traffic movements, weather etc.

Eight parking places have been identified and a total of 15 cameras are being put up spanning the entire length of M.G Road, he added.
