Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped Deputy Chief Electrical Officer B. Venkateswarlu for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from an electrical contractor for giving the latter a license, on Saturday.

The complainant, Sudheer Babu, had applied for a license but Mr. Venkateswarlu demanded bribe to sanction the same. Acting on a tip-off, the ACB team led by Circle Inspector Nagaraju caught Mr. Venkateswarlu red-handed at his office on the M. Subbaiah Street in Governorpet and took him into custody

The Electrical Inspectorate Department issues license to individuals or firms specialised in design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems, in compliance with the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003 and A.P Electrical Licensing Regulations of 1987.
