For the art connoisseurs of the emerging capital city, the five-day group painting exhibition has come as a refreshing change. A good number of paintings, portraying various genres by painters from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, are on display at the Aakriti Art Gallery of The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada (CCV) at Mogulrajapuram’s Madhu Malaxmi Chambers.
The expo, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., will conclude on April 21. Entry is free.
“We have oil, acrylic, charcoal and water colour paintings on the walls by artists ranging from septuagenarians Teevee (T. Venkatrao), Thota Vaikuntam and A. Satyam, the youngest in his 30s,” says gallery director Dr. E. Sivanagi Reddy, chief executive officer of The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada (CCV) on Saturday.
He said the gallery, aimed to promote and nurture painters in the capital city, will witness several novel and innovative concepts for the art-loving denizens.“This floor will become the hub of painters. We will conduct training classes, workshops and seminars by eminent painters for the budding painters. We will also introduce the new concepts in vogue in modern world of painting,” Mr. Reddy added.
Former cartoonist of Visalandhara Mr. T. Venkatrao said that the concepts such as one-man shows will also be considered in the future. “The themes on display in the gallery are abstract, landscape, nature, human life, devotional and also nudes.”
As many as 30 painters, including a woman painter Lavanya Dutt from Hyderabad, have sent their works for display in the expo organised by the Telugu World Artists Arts Society (TWAAS).
We will conduct training classes, workshops and seminars for the budding painters.
