The Communist Party of India (CPI) organised a massive rally here on Saturday seeking construction of a bridge across the Nagavali river providing connectivity to Santakaviti mandal and the Amadalavalasa mandal.

The party mobilised people from over 50 villages who supported the demand for the construction of the bridge between Valteru village of Santakaviti mandal and Togaram panchayat of Amadalavalasa. Senior leader K. Narayana, who participated in the rally and protest at the Collector's office, said the bridge had been the dream of people for the last 20 years. “It would provide better connectivity to Srikakulam and Rajam towns too. The distance might come down to 30 km from 60 km between the towns,” he added.

CPI leaders Chapara Sundarlal and Ch. Venkataramana said people could cross the river in summer but it was leading to accidents in other seasons.
