City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang and Axis Bank AP Circle Head V. Ramakrishna, on Tuesday handed over ₹20 lakh insurance claim to the family members of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) M. Durga Rao, who died in a road accident recently.

The Axis Bank management signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to extend insurance claim up to ₹30 lakh to the police personnel, who died fighting extremists, terrorists or of unnatural causes. The MoU was signed on August 16.

“The ASI died in a road mishap while he was returning home after attending duty on August 10. The bank management covered the insurance claim though Durga Rao died a week days before the signing of the MoU,” said Mr. Sawang.

Axis Bank AP Retail Head T.V.R. Prasad explained that ₹30 lakh insurance claim would be extended for permanent disability or death and ₹5 lakh would be given for partial disability.

Durga Rao’s wife M. Indira, who received the cheque, thanked the Police Commissioner and the bank officials for their gesture.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) J. Brahma Reddy, Special Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ramesh Babu, headquarters ACP Koteswara Rao, Administrative Officer Bhaskar Rao and other officers participated.
