Collector Budhaprakash M. Jyothi visited Yakamuru village in Thotlavallur mandal in Krishna district and inspected the toilets constructed under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan Scheme.
Mr. Budhaprakash interacted with the villagers and enquired them about the construction of individual toilets in the village.
In the first phase, government has sanctioned toilets in 245 gram panchayats in 49 mandals in the district.
Government will pay Rs.9,100 and the remaining Rs.900 should be borne by the beneficiary, he said and appealed to the villagers to construct toilets in all houses and maintain sanitation.
He directed the officials to visit the villages, enlighten the locals on the need to construct individual sanitary latrines, and sanction toilets for all households in the mandal.
NREGS Project Director Hanuma Naik said that 26,000 toilets were sanctioned in the district and steps were being taken to complete the units by March end.
Later, the Collector interacted with the Self-Help Group women and enquired about the progress of their business.
MPDO Sambasiva Reddy, MRO M. Babu Rao, NREGS assistant project director P. Devananda Rao and others accompanied the Collector.
