The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has given a call to party workers, sympathisers and public to observe November 8, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetisation a year ago, as a Black Day.
The poor and middle class were the worse hit by the economic upheaval that followed the scrapping ₹500 and ₹1,000 currency notes. One year has passed, but nothing has improved, a press release from Andhra Ratna Bhavan said. As part of the programme, Congress workers will take out a rally from Andhra Ratna Bhavan and stage a protest at Lenin Centre. A candle light procession would be taken out from the PCC office in the evening.
Tributes to N G Ranga
Andhra Pradesh Congres Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy paid floral tributes to the statue of farmers’ leader and former MP N.G. Ranga on the occasion of his 117 birth anniversary. Ranga went to jail along with Mahatma Gandhi and most of the discussions raised in Parliament over farmers problems were initiated by Ranga, he said.
