The Congress will be staging a dharna in front of the Sub-Collector’s office here on Tuesday to highlight the Telugu Desam Party’s failure to fulfil the promises made in its election manifesto.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) official spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji said on Monday that it would be one year on March 31, since the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had released its poll manifesto.
“Exactly one year will be completed on Tuesday. Most of what was promised has not been fulfilled,” he said.
Several senior Congress leaders including PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy would be participating in the dharna.
Agriculture
Besides loan waiver for farmers, the TDP had promised to make agriculture profitable by linking science and technology to it.
Capital
It promised to build a capital at a place agreeable to all regions, but people of the place earmarked for the capital were opposed to it, Mr. Sivaji remarked, adding that the TDP had promised to fight not just for special category status, but “autonomy”.
Former MLA Malladi Vishnu said none of what the Chief Minister promised was being implemented satisfactorily.
