The competitive spirit of the students came to fore at “Kurukshetra 2011”, a state-level inter-collegiate meet for students of business management, organised by the PG department of business administration of P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science on Wednesday. The young ones vied with one another in participating and making the event a success. About 800 students from over 48 colleges, mostly from the city and surrounding areas and a few from other parts of the State as well, arrived to take part in the events. Students from a few Bangalore-based colleges too came well prepared to take on the local participants.
A festive atmosphere prevailed on the premises of Siddhartha Auditorium with the brightly-dressed young ones enthusiastically taking part in the competitive events. The organisers lined up various activities like ‘Yaksha Prashna' (business quiz), ‘Padma Vyuh' (young manager), ‘Creative Pandavas' (market makers), ‘Maya Sabha' (stock market simulation), ‘Chitram Bhalare Chitram' (short film making) and ‘Nartanasala' (cultural competitions) to bring out the latent talents of the students.
K. Chandrasekaran, Regional General Manager, The Hindu , who was the chief guest, said that the students should strive to participate in events and learn from others so that they would stand to gain a lot in the long run. He advised them to acquire a consistent reading habit and pick up the right material regardless of how difficult it would be.
Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education secretary N. Venkateswarlu said it was nice to see youngsters eagerly demonstrating their talents and confronting their competitors with the spirit similar to the one displayed by Kauravas and Pandavas on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
