District Road Safety Committee Chairman and Collector S.A.M. Rizvi has instructed the officials to arrange speed-breakers and boards in 102 school zones in the city to prevent road accidents.
Chairing a meeting on ‘Road Safety Committee' here on Friday, Mr. Rizvi asked officials of various departments about enforcement of the decisions taken in the previous meeting.

The Collector said due to safety measures taken up by the committee, the rate of accidents had come down. He, however, stressed the need for complete implementation of the resolutions taken up in the committee meeting.
Mr. Rizvi instructed AP Transco officials to remove electric poles from Skew Bridge to Ramalingeswar Nagar on the national highway. The municipal corporation and the police are requested to remove the vendors who occupied the pavements, he said.
The officials identified 42 parking lots in the city and the police should take action against those who parked the vehicles on the main roads obstructing free flow of traffic. Apart from highway patrolling, the Transport Department authorities should also arrange patrolling on NH-5 and NH-9, to prevent illegal parking and drunken driving, said the Collector.
He directed the municipal corporation authorities to see that the cellars are used for parking only and the vehicles of the residents should not park on the roads. The officers of the departments concerned should take steps for strict implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting, said Mr. Rizvi.
City Police Commissioner N. Madhusudhan Reddy, Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu, Deputy Transport Commissioner A. Mohan, APSRTC Regional Manager K.V.R.K. Prasad, DCP M. Ravindranath Babu, Roads and Buildings Superintending Engineer Srimannarayana and other officials attended the meeting.
