Travel writer and photographer Ashok Beera has come out with a coffee table book showcasing wild and vibrant Prakasam.
The ace photographer has been roped in by the district administration to bring out in all its splendour the rich cultural heritage of the district which has been named after none other than freedom fighter and first Chief Minister of Andhra state carved out of Madras Presidency in 1953, Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu.
The coffee table book, which has 88 pages, traces the glorious past of the district, which has been the cradle of several dynasties with remnants standing testimony to the regimes of Maurya, Satavahanas, Ikshavaku, Pallava, Vengi Chalukya, Konidesa Chola, Yadava, Reddi Raja, Vijayanagara, Qutub Shahi and Asifjahi who have left behind numerous forts, temples, stupas or sculptures in, among other places, Addanki, Markapur, Bhairavakona, Malakonda, Chinnaganjam, Chandavaram, Tripurnatakam, Satyavolu, Motupalli, Nemiligundem and Dhupadu.
Mr. Beera’s book was printed and bound by Caxton Offset Private Limited.
The author had made a passionate attempt to bring to limelight the best of Prakasam district with lively pictures and illustrations to make the district an important tourist destination, said N.Balaji, Vice-Chairman, Zilla Parishad.
