Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu warned of stringent action against contractors for failure to complete the Krishna Pushkar works on time and insisted that the works should not be like stop-gap arrangements.

Speaking to mediapersons during his inspection of the Pushkar and Kanaka Durga temple development works here on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said Vijayawada should play host to the devotees who would be coming for the festival, in a befitting manner and ensure that they go back with sweet memories.

Since the Kanaka Durga temple is the most popular destination, priority should be given to its beautification and importance has also to be given to sprucing up the Pandit Nehru Bus Station and the Railway Station, which are like gateways to the Capital region. Similarly, the three canals that pass through the city have to be given uplift on a war-footing so as to attract tourists.
