District administration is putting in all efforts to make Chief Minister’s camp office ready by May 1 but this could also bring in some inconvenience to residents living around the Irrigation office as officials are planning to block traffic on a few stretches in the area, citing security reasons.
To begin with traffic on the Rythu Bazar to Irrigation office stretch, popularly known as Mukkamala Nagabhushanam Street is likely to be blocked for regular traffic. Barricades would be put in place at electricity department office on the stretch, barring entry of vehicles towards irrigation office and beyond.
This would be followed with traffic regulation on the State Guest House-Collector’s camp office stretch, which is also known as Pingali Venkaiah Marg. All this would be done to ensure security around Chief Minister’s camp office and at State Guest House where VIP movement is increasing with every passing day.
But all these plans could result in lot of inconvenience for residents living in and around Irrigation office. For instance, residents from Suryaraopeta, Pushpa Hotel centre and Gopal Reddy road, who usually drive straight to Rythu Bazar from the irrigation office road, would have to take a detour from Stadium road, drive along M.G.Road and finally reach Rythu Bazar.
“These restrictions would be imposed temporarily as Chief Minister would be working from the camp office for only three days in a week. We are still thinking about these plans but we cannot compromise on security aspects,” said an official.
It is not just traffic regulation officials are also planning to take up road widening to increase the road space on the Rythu Bazar road and State Guest House stretches. The existing two-lane stretches would be developed into four-lane stretches to ensure free flow of traffic.
Except for relocation of electric transformer opposite the State Guest House, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation would commence the road widening, installation of streetlights, construction of footpaths on these stretches very shortly.
