Director-General of Police (DGP) N. Sambasiva Rao on Friday complimented the Vijayawada City Police for winning the FICCI Smart Policing-2017 awards.

Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang, IG (Logistics) N. Madhusudhan Reddy and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) G.V.G. Ashok Kumar met the DGP and told him that city police won the awards for Court Monitoring System (CMS) and e-Challan system.

Mr. Ashok Kumar received the awards at a function organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi on Thursday.

Mr. Sawang explained how the city police were using the advanced technologies. He said that CMS was introduced in 2005, and the system was helping the police in keeping a track on criminals, executing non-bailable warrants, issuing summons and clearing pending cases.

“Through Court Monitoring System, police will have updated information on the status of different cases and for maintaining better coordination between the police and prosecuting officers thereby ensuring speedy justice to the victims,” said Mr. Sawang.

CMS will give details of the history of the offenders and give timely data on pending cases in each police station, Mr. Ashok Kumar said adding that separate staff have been allotted for monitoring CMS.

e-Traffic Challan was introduced in 2015 and more than 1 lakh challans were served online. Violators can check the violation, if any, through e-Challan or through Fourth Line App and pay fine online.

“Police will identify the violators of traffic rules through surveillance cameras installed at various junctions. Later, police will identify the address and other details through the vehicle registration number and send the challan with just a click. e-Challan system, which is working successfully in Vijayawada Police Commissionerate,” the Police Commissioner explained.
