With Ramzan likely to fall on Thursday, the Muslim fraternity in the city is gearing up to celebrate the festival with fervour.

As the crescent moon was not sighted on Tuesday evening, it is confirmed that the festival would be celebrated on Thursday.

The crescent moon is likely to be spotted on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, the age old mosques spread in One-town, Bhavanipuram and other areas are being decked up to welcome devotees.

For the first time, the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium is going to host Id-Ul-Fitr prayers and a large number of devotees are expected to take part, according to the Muslim Idgah Committee which is going to organise the celebrations. Also, a huge open space at Yanamalakudur will be hosting thousands of devotees.

Shopping activity

Shopping activity at Panja Centre in One-town picked up with people thronging to buy semiya, sweets and other Ramzan special items.

The City’s busiest shopping area, Besant road, is witnessing hectic activity. On the other hand Muslim fraternity is busy preparing for Id-Ul-Fitr’s special gesture where every single member of the community gives away clothes or/and food as a token of gratitude towards the poor.
