CITU urges people to support strike

August 13, 2010 04:13 pm | Updated 04:13 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), affiliated to the CPI (M), has called upon the people to participate in the all-India strike called by all the trade unions on September 7 against the “anti-people, and more particularly, anti-working class” policies of the Central government.

CITU State general secretary R. Sudha Bhaskar told reporters at the end of the two-day State committee meeting that the September 7 strike was unique because even the Indian National Trade Union Congress of the Congress party was supporting it.

The strike was in support of the demand for controlling rising prices, redrafting the proposed legislation for unorganised sector, dropping PSU divestment.
