They are all from families that do not have doctors. The toppers of Osmania University that have grabbed the best seats on the first day of the Medical PG counselling here on Monday are the children of either teachers or government servants.
Top rank student Avula Satish Kumar got the much coveted radio-diagnostics seat in Osmania Medical College and another topper Gundamaraju Madhavilatha got the radio-diagnostics seat in Gandhi Medical College. Dr. Satish Kumar, a student of Nagarjuna High School, Hyderabad, did his intermediate in Srichaitanya, Vijayawada, and his MBBS in Osmania Medical College.
Second attempt
This is his second attempt for PG and in the first attempt he secured rank 406. His father is a retired Postal Department Employee and mother a homemaker. He has a brother who works in the software industry.
Dr. Madhavilatha secured rank 410 in the previous attempt for a PG seat. Her parents are government teachers and she did her schooling in Mahaboobnagar and intermediate in Srichaitanya,Vijayawada. She wants to do DM Radiology in the next step.
She has two brothers working in the software industry and a younger sister studying engineering. She also did her MBBS in Osmania Medical College and was given the PG seat under the OC Woman category. Ganta Sandeep from Prathima Medical College, Karimnagar, who got a rank lesser than Dr Satish Kumar and Dr Madhavilatha opted for General Medicine in Osmania Medical College.
Dr Sandeep secured rank 409 in the previous attempt for a PG seat. His father is a teacher and mother is a homemaker. He did his school in Sri Aravinda Vidyalaya, Mulugu, and his intermediate in Srichaitanya, Vijayawada. The counselling went on late into the night. At 7.30 p.m. 164 seats were filled in OC, BC, SC and ST categories. While 77 OC seats were filled, 53 BC seats, 24, SC seats and 10 ST seats were filled.
