Chettinad food festival draws connoisseurs

For those who wish to relish the taste of famous Karaikudi and Devakottai dishes, Chettinad food festival is on in the city to tickle their taste buds. Hotel Fortune Murali Park launched the Food Festival for food lovers at Zodiac 24 hours Coffee Shop from Thursday.

Launching the food festival, hotel general manager P.K. Venkatesh said the theme of the festival was ‘Reviving the taste of Karaikudi area’, and the dishes had been selected with a grand gala of dinner buffet.

The event features several mouth-watering dishes such as ‘poritha kalan’, ‘uppu urundai’, ‘veral meen varuval’, ‘kaikari chettinad’, ‘ennai kathrikkai’, ‘nandu masala’, ‘chicken chettinad’, ‘kothu paratha’, ‘chicken Chettinad biryani’, ‘beetroot halwa’, ‘elaneer payasam’, ‘drumstick sambar’ and starters, he said.

Assistant sales manager S.K. Jeelani said the festival would be held from 7.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. Special starters and ice creams would also be on offer, said chef Chand.
