BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari hit the campaign trail for elections to Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on behalf of the party candidate Annabatthula Varalakshmi in 20th division here on Friday. She campaigned door to door and appealed to the people to vote for the BJP which, she claimed, was the best bet for both Parliament and the Assembly.

Ms. Purandeswari listed out a few salient points of the party’s action plan for development of the city, to the electorate and asserted that their future would be secure under BJP rule.

Later, addressing a party meeting as part of the ‘Modi for PM- BJP for Seemandhra Development’ campaign, Ms. Purandeswari said the UPA’s policies had destroyed the economy. The country faced increased hostility on its borders with Pakistan, women’s security and unemployment became major issues of concern and many other problems that troubled the people like never before.

“The UPA is responsible for all the mess. The time has come to vote for the BJP which proved its mettle in Gujarat and other States ruled by it,” she asserted.

In VMC, the party fielded candidates in 36 out of 59 divisions and people should decide which party was capable of giving good governance if they wished to see the city grow, the BJP leader added.
