Beware of spurious medicines, consumers told

February 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

All India Consumer Protection Organisation (AICPO) State president Suresh Katragadda advised people to be vigilant about the medicines and food products purchased by them in view of the scope for deceit. He was addressing the AICPO State committee meeting here on Wednesday.

Consumers should carefully observe dates of manufacturing, details of manufacturers etc. to be on the safe side. They should remember that some food items were made under unhygienic conditions and without licenses from the departments concerned. The consumers have to ensure that bills were in order.

Mr. Suresh said the AICPO was monitoring the market trends and was taking up cases on its own in the interest of consumers.

Later, Mr. Suresh announced the names of K. Balaji Thakur Singh, Karam Bir Kaur, K. Ramesh Chand and R. Sobha Rani as the State committee’s new Vice-President, General Secretary, Office Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
