For Sunitha Tati, ‘Bangaru Kodipetta’, which was released on Friday, gave the much-needed break in the Telugu film industry and lots of confidence in her talent. More than the fact that it is her first film in Tollywood as a producer, the odds that she had to battle to reach this stage makes her celebrate the occasion.
The biggest threat Sunitha faced was not the one posed by upcoming film-makers but it came from within in the form of breast cancer which was malignant by the time she started shaping her career 10 years ago.
Inspiration for youthDoctors ruled out the chance of her survival for more than a few months but fate decided otherwise and she never looked back again.
After undergoing a surgery, she pursued her goal, which was to become a good film-maker, with dedication and victory came her way.
Ms. Sunitha, who was born and brought up in Vijayawada, went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in business management from George Mason University and a PG course in film-making from New York University.
In 2000, she learnt the intricacies of film-making from Daggubati Suresh Babu of Ramanaidu Studios and worked for seven films in various positions. She was assistant director of ‘Malleeswari,’ ‘Jayam Manadera’ and ‘Hyderabad Blues.’ An active Rotarian she is also a trustee of the Hyderabad-based Support Cancer Awareness Foundation.
Addressing ‘Bangaru Kodipetta’ movie ‘release meet’ at Venkata Swarna Theatre here on Friday, Indian Medical Association president Indla Rama Subba Reddy and Rotary Club Vijayawada- Krishnaveni president C. Ram Chand said Ms. Sunitha was an inspiration for youth.
She proved her mettle in the challenging world of film-making undaunted by personal setbacks. ‘Bangaru Kodipetta’ has Navdeep and Swathi of Colours fame in the lead roles. It took two years for Ms. Sunitha to finish the movie due to funds constraint but nothing could stop her march to success.
