Bandar port works will commence soon: Kollu

BC Welfare and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra said that the State government was committed to the construction of Bandar port. The works would be launched very soon, he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the Minister said that the survey works were completed.

The government sent a report to the Director of Ports. Bandar port requires 5,300 acre. Of this, government land of about 2,500 acre was already available. Remaining land would have to be acquired.

The government was exploring the land pooling option also. The government had plans to develop Logistics hub integrating it with the Bandar port, he said.

Referring to the State budget, The Minister said that for the first time in the country BC Sub-Plan was introduced in the budget. The government earmarked Rs. 6,400 crore for the BC welfare. Fulfilling the electoral promises, the government made 20 per cent of allocations for the BC welfare, he said.

A 220 km outer ring road covering Gudivada, Nuzvid, Pamarrru and Tenali would be constructed for the new Capital city, he said.

On Pattiseema project, the Minister said that the government chalked out plans to use 80 tmc ft of water through lift irrigation to meet requirements of Krishna delta and Rayalaseema drinking water needs.

Notwithstanding hurdles being created by opposition parties, the government would complete the project, he added.
