State Government Employees and others under the banner of Samaikya Rastra Parirakshana Vedika staged a dharna protesting against the manhandling and arrest of Seemandhra employees of the Secretariat and the unconstitutional way the Andhra Pradesh States Reorganisation Bill 2013 was tabled in the Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad on Monday.
APNGO’s Association members led by A. Vidya Sagar and others of the Vedika staged a dharna and raised slogans against the police action in which their counterparts working in the State capital were bundled into police vehicles.
Students under the banner of the Samaikyandhra Students JAC led by convenor Devineni Avinash burnt copies of the Reorganisation Bill at NTR Circle in the city to register their protest against the bifurcation of the State. Traffic was disrupted in the evening for some time following the protests on the M.G. Road at different places.
‘No protection’The Rashtra Mahila Independent JAC leaders in a statement condemned the way MLC Nanapaneni Rajakumari was pushed to the ground in the Legislative Assembly.
The JAC president Lanka Madhavi in a statement said there was no protection even for elected representatives in the State.
Leaders were free to speak about the rights of the people, she said and demanded that the person who pushed the MLC should be taken into custody and punished severely within 24 hours.
