Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association’s efforts to host the 79{+t}{+h}Senior Nationals badminton championship at DRRMC indoor stadium under the LED lighting have failed to take off for want of time.

APBA shelved the plans of changing the 150-odd tube lights with LED as the tournament is just a week away (January 29) from inauguration. Meanwhile the renovation work is on war footing as the toilets are getting a new look.

“We do not want to take risk as we need to lay the synthetic courts in a couple of days. We will be increasing the power by adding more voltage for the smooth conduct of the tournament. We will increase the power by 150 lux (light output),” he added.

He said the tournament, held after 35 years, will be staged in three venues – Funtimes Club, Vijayawada Club and DRRMC indoor stadium. “The renovation work at DRRMC indoor stadium will give emphasis on flooring, toilets and lighting,” he pointed out.
