AP Capital Region Development Authority comes into being

The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday notified the areas covering broadly an area of about 7068 sq. km as AP Capital Region and 122 sq. km as Capital City with the AP Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014 coming into force from Tuesday.

The Act came into force by virtue of notification published in the Extraordinary issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazette on Tuesday with Governor E S L Narasimhan giving his assent to it on Monday.

With the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority ceasing to exist with immediate effect, the notification constituting the AP Capital Region Development Authority was issued with Chief Minister as Chairman and Municipal Administration as vice-chairman.

Finance Minister, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries to several departments are the members, Commissioner, Capital Region Development Authority is the member convenor. Orders will be issued subsequently regarding appointment of experts to the Authority.

A separate notification was issued constituting a three-member executive committee of the AP Capital Region Development Authority with Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development department as Chairman, Principal Secretary, Finance Department (Member) and Commissioner, Capital Region Development Authority as Member-Convenor.
