An all party roundtable conference on the Pulichintala Project held here on Sunday demanded the State Government to constitute an all-party committee to monitor its progress in its completion.
Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Machilipatnam MP Konakalla Narayana the farmers’ wing representatives of different parties Chalasani Anjaneyulu (TDP), Kolli Nageswara Rao (CPI), M. Bhargava Sri (CPI-ML), M.V.S. Nagi Reddy (YSR Congress) participated. Former Rajya Sabha member Y. Sivaji presided over the roundtable conference. The leaders of the conference resolved to take up legal recourse by filing a public interest litigation against the State government and the contractor that were responsible in the inordinate delay in completion of the project. The last extension (of six months) was given on Jan. 15 promising people to complete the project by June 15. Dr. Sivaji said that all the resolutions made by the round table would be sent to State Chief Secretary for action.
