Long-pending grievance: AgriGold Customers and Agents Welfare Association members staging a dharna in Vijayawada on Monday.

Hundreds AgriGold victims from various districts gathered at Dharna Chowk here on Monday to demand swift settlement of their dues. Amidst chanting of slogans and waving of placards, the agents and customers listened to the speeches of the AgriGold Customers & Agents Welfare Association (ACAWA) president M. Nageswara Rao and CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna.

Mr. Ramakrishna said on the occasion of the historic beginning of the new Assembly at Velagapudi, it was the responsibility of all politicians to work for justice to lakhs of people who were victims of a gigantic scam.

The association demanded the release of ₹1,180 crore as advance to the customers who had deposited less than ₹20,000. “For those who had deposited more than ₹20,000, the same advance many be given twice,” said Mr. Nageswara Rao. He demanded that the government take up auction of AgriGold companies’ properties on a weekly basis.

The process can be hastened if the State agencies participated in the auction. “For example, Haailand can be bought by the Tourism Department,” he said.

Mr. Nageswara Rao said the government should make provision to those customers who paid the entire amount in the real estate segment, to get their land registered.
