South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav on Tuesday called upon the staff to accord first priority to safety and advised the officials to follow the policy of no-compromise-on-safety.

He presented the ‘Man of the Month’ safety awards to 10 employees for displaying dedication and alertness on duty and taking timely action to prevent untoward incidents.

He conducted a review meeting on the improvement of safety, punctuality and loading along with the principal heads of departments and the Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all six divisions.

Punctuality

The General Manager emphasised on punctuality by minimising asset failures which were leading to late running of trains. He instructed all the officials to monitor personally aspects such as loco failures, yard derailments and unusual happenings at level crossings.

He instructed all the DRMs to focus on track maintenance and ensure proper utilisation of track-related machines to achieve the target of track renovation. He also reviewed the zonal position on the elimination of unmanned level crossings with the DRMs and instructed them to speed up the works to reach the target.

Mr. Yadav also held a detailed review on the loading performance of the Zone, including the supply of wagons as per demand. While reviewing the passenger amenities, he instructed the officials to focus on speeding up of works related to FOBs, escalators, raising the height of platforms and further improvement of traffic facilities.

He told the officials to focus on the issues related to on-board housekeeping activities, garbage collection at selected stations, cleanliness of stations and trains and maintenance of bio-toilets on a war-footing to improve the conditions.
