ACCIF stresses improvement of connectivity

A five-member delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had an interaction with the president elect and office-bearers of the Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (ACCIF) on its premises here on Tuesday evening. They took part in a session on ‘Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor- Challenges and opportunities’.

The ADB delegation comprised Qu Jian and Zhou Zhenbang from China Development Institute, Atul Sanganeria, Consultant Economist of ADB, Andrew Guinn, Research Associate at Duke University Social Science Research Institute, North Carolina and Ms. Jin, Research Assistant at China Development Institute.

ACCIF president-elect M. Murali Krishna told the visiting delegation that road, rail and sea and airport connectivity needed to be improved for rapid development of the corridor. Due emphasis has to be laid on development of the airport at Gannavaram into an international airport and construction of the long-pending seaport at Machilipatnam. The issue of exorbitant prices of real estate was sought to be addressed by the government to facilitate entry of new industries. ACCIF Executive Director P. Bhaskar Rao, School of Planning and Architecture Director N. Sridharan and heads of some local industries were present.
