Andhra Cricket Association, after winning the accolades of all and sundry, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), for sprucing up quality infrastructure has now gone a step ahead and added an element of technology to its operations.
Much to the delight of players, parents and coaches, the association under the initiative of former India International stumper M.S.K Prasad is beaming the four-day ACA under-19 inter-district final between Visakhapatnam and Kadapa from Perecherala near Guntur through a Hyderabad-based television channel in YouTube.
In the 60-long-year history over Andhra Cricket Association, this is first time that an inter-district junior match, is being telecast live in the internet.The live telecast has created a buzz among the cricketing fraternity and more than 1800 viewers have enjoyed the proceedings for three days.
“I thought of using technology to motivate the youngsters. It will be a nice feeling for the boys to see them in action. With Perecherla strip looking more like an international playfield, the boys are enjoying the telecast. It will also help the correct their mistakes,” said M.S.K Prasad, who played for India in six Tests.
The channel also roped in a commentary team led by the seasoned Doordarshan commentator Mahavadhi Sudheer and the experts like ACA director M.S.K. Prasad, former Andhra Ranji skipper K. Chandrasekhar Rao, senior sports administrator Venkat Malpaka, ACA administrators Mohan Das and Seethapathy are expressing their opinions thus adding a professional touch to the telecast.
