Relatives of abducted engineer Palagani Krishna Rao met Gannavaram MLA Dasari Balavardhana Rao on Thursday and urged him to use his good offices in coordinating with leaders at the national level for securing the release of the engineer from the clutches of the militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland.
The TDP MLA was in contact with the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao, who initiated efforts to ensure active coordination among the officials of the Assam government and those of Gayatri Projects Ltd, employer of the abducted engineer.
Road project
Mr. Balavardhana Rao told The Hindu that the engineer earlier worked on the four-lane NH-5 project when he had set up his home in Gannavaram for the sake of education of his children. Even after moving to Assam, the engineer did not move his family so as not to disturb his children’s education. Mr. Krishna Rao worked for Madhucon Group when he was here, he quoted the engineer’s family members as saying.
Family anxious
According to the MLA, the engineer’s family members were eager to know about the efforts being made for the release of Mr. Krishna Rao. “But it is an issue to be dealt with very carefully. We are reassuring them about support from all those involved in it,” Mr. Balavardhana Rao said.
