Young learners at HEAL Paradise, a gurukul school constructed at Thotapalli village of Agiripalli mandal in Krishna district, are all smiles.
The children now have a comfortable residential facility within the school campus, thanks to The Hans Foundation (THF), India’s largest social investor that helps over 250 NGOs change the scenario in rural India.
Lt. Gen. S.M. Mehta and Dr. G.V. Rao, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Officer of THF respectively, visited the campus to inaugurate two separate hostel buildings for boys and girls built at a cost of Rs. 14 crore spread across 9,500 square metres. The hostels christened as Hans Boys’ dormitory and Rajeswari Girls’ dormitory can accommodate 440 boys and 560 girls respectively.
President of HEAL Ramavtar Yadav expressed gratitude for the financial support extended by THF which, he said would allow them to provide quality education and residential facility to the under-privileged children. He said the support was critical especially during this stage when HEAL School was trying to consolidate and scale up provision to 1,000 children in the next three years.
Lt. Gen. Mehta said he was pleased to see the completion of the new hostels. “We believe that a good living environment equals more productivity, more inspiration and skill enhancement for talented individuals. We are happy that it has come to fruition and is consistent with our drive to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of THF’s support.”
In May, THF announced a scholarship programme for education, healthcare and residential facility for 200 children out of the 400 residing at the two new hostels in HEAL Paradise.
Under the programme, 200 children in the age group of 5 to 16 years, who are either orphan or raised by a single parent without any support, would be eligible for the scholarship for three years. After that, HEAL will provide the necessary aid to these children.
