480, including late comers, miss Group-I mains

The first day of the Group-1 mains examination conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) for the 2011 aspirants went off smoothly barring failure of some candidates to reach the centres on time, in the city on Wednesday.

Following a directive by the Supreme Court, the APPSC has notified examination for the 1,134 candidates related to limited and general notifications 18/2011 and 15/2011 issued by the government. According to co-ordinator N.V.V. Satyanarayana, 654 candidates out of total 1,134 appeared for the examination on the first day in the five centres allotted in the city, while about 15 candidates who reached the examination centres late failed to make it.

A total of 480 candidates were absent. A series of examinations will be held till September 24 as per the revised schedule.

On September 24, General English paper examination, which was initially scheduled for September 13, will be conducted.
