City Police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao along with psychiatrist Indla Ramasubba Reddy on Tuesday introduced 1Life Suicide Prevention Helpline No.78930-78930 here on Tuesday.

The helpline was set up by a software professional, K. Suresh Bharadwaj along with his friends – Vikrant and Sai Srikrishna – to counsel the persons who have suicidal tendencies and stop suicides.

Mr. Bharadwaj’s parents, K.V.S. Suryanarayana and Rajyalakshmi were running the organisation to form a suicide free society in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkateswara Rao said life is full of problems and advised the people to face them and enjoy the life. But, ending life is not a solution to any problem, he said .

Dr. Subbareddy said giving emotional first-aid to the depressed patients can prevent suicides. The role of film makers and media is very crucial to prevent suicide deaths, he said.

1Life deputed volunteers in a few districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States to counsel the needy. Efforts are on to appoint volunteers in all districts, said Mr. Suryanarayana.
