The current industrial climate is conducive for starting industrial projects and the unemployed youths should take advantage of the same and come forward to launch their own ventures, observed speakers at the valediction of the ten day long Entrepreneurship Development Programme which concluded here on Friday.
The programme was conducted by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), a training institute approved by Khadi Village Industries Commission, Government of India and State Department of Industries and Commerce under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme.
M. Muthuraman, Senior Manager, Indian Bank, called upon the trainees to start their own ventures and approach the banks for getting financial support for their projects.
S. M. Rasumani, General Manager, District Industries Centre, in his special address said explained the various concessions offered by the government for launching their own ventures.
K. Kala, Programme Officer, CED, offered felicitations. Mr. Muthuraman gave away certificates to all the trainees at the end.
During the training programme, experts handled various sessions. The participants also interacted with the government officials, resource persons and successful entrepreneurs. They also made industrial visits to SIPCOT Complex and SIDCO Industrial Estate here to gain first hand information on the functioning of the industrial units.
The participants of the training programme, numbering 20, had obtained financial assistance ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 25 lakhs for starting industrial ventures like coconut fibre and coir products, readymade garments, brick, hallow block, gem cutting and polishing nits, iron and steel fabrication works, digital colour lab, chapel and rexin bags making projects, soap company etc.
S. Prithiviraj, president, Small Scale Industries (NSM Enterprises) Association of Pudukottai District, had earlier inaugurated the training programme.
