Work on expansion of the Ariyalur railway station has been in full swing and will be completed by April.

The project is part of the doubling of the track between Villupuram and Dindigul carried out by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, a Government of India enterprise, at an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore.
