Railway employees attached to Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU) observed fast at two places here on Tuesday in support of their charter of demands.

The day-long fasts were observed in front of the Divisional Railway Manager’s office and opposite Golden Rock Railway Workshop.

The union members demanded the railway administration create new posts to maintain new trains and stop surrender of posts.

Withdrawal of new pension scheme, withdrawal of bonus ceiling, implementation of Trackmen committee report fully, providing 20 per cent reservation for wards of railway employees in the examinations conducted by Railway Recruitment Board and filling up vacant posts were their other demands.
