Ward Education Committee gets award

The Ward Education Committee of the Municipal Middle School in Woraiyur East here has bagged the best committee award among the urban schools in the district for its outstanding performance during 2009-10.

The award, instituted under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme, carries a shield and a citation in appreciation of its achievement registered during the period by the Committee.

Among all the committees functioning at 84 schools in the city, the committee at this school had got maximum score in various aspects for the effective implementation of the SSA, according to Azhagu Subramanian, Supervisor of Block Resource Centre, Tiruchi.

The committee, led by president Vai. Pushpam, adhered to all the parameters for the overall benefit of students of the school. Convening of meeting, discussion with parents and other school-oriented programmes were implemented with maximum efforts by the Committee, he said.

S. Selvarathinam, Assistant Education Officer, gave away the award to Vai. Pushpam and Saroja, Headmistress of the school.

He said that a special committee comprising officials from Education Department conducted an assessment of the performance of all the 84 Committees in the city. He appreciated the efforts taken by the committee of this school for maximum efforts for the success of the SSA.
