Varsity signs MoU with NIO

The Department of Marine Science of Bharathidasan University on Friday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, for taking up collaborative research, exchange visits of academic staff and students, conduct of special short-term academic programmes and ship cruise participation for students and research scholars. Resource Management and P. Vethamony, Chief Scientist, NIO, M. Krishnan, Chair, School of Environmental Sciences and Arthur James, Head, Dept. of Marine Science, Bharathidasan University. The NIO is one of the constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and takes up research in the four traditional branches of oceanography - biological, chemical, geological/geophysical, and physical – as well as ocean engineering, marine instrumentation and marine archaeology, a varsity press release said.
