Technology should be used for social development, said S. Ganesan, Registrar, Anna University, here on Saturday.
Inaugurating a one-day national-level workshop on recent trends in human-computer interaction organised by Tiruchirappalli chapter of Computer Society of India (CSI), Mr. Ganesan said that use of computer in the field of medicine had brought precision in surgery. “Using computer software, treatment is given to cancer patients. Cancer cells can be destroyed precisely without damaging other cells. Youth are using computers, mobile phones, and television. In fact, they were addicted to computers and cell phones,” said Mr. Ganesan.
He released a book on Human-Computer Interaction written by K. Meena, former Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, and M. Sivakumar, Associate Professor, Head, Department of Computer Science, AVVM Sri Pushpam College, Poondi, published by Prentice Hall of India Learning Private Ltd, Delhi. A. Srinivasan, Chairman and Founder, Dhanalakshmi Group of Educational Institutions, Perambalur and Tiruchi; M.
