Twenty eight candidates, including K.N. Nehru, former Minister, filed their nominations for the nine Assembly constituencies in Tiruchi district on Monday.
Accompanied by representatives of alliances partners such as Indian Union Muslim League, Puthiya Tamizhagam, and Congress, Mr. Nehru filed his nomination papers with M. Ganesh Kumar, Revenue Divisional Officer and Returning Officer for the Tiruchi West constituency. He was accompanied by his brother K.N. Ravichandran.
The former Transport Minister has declared movable assets worth Rs. 61.10 lakh in his name and Rs. 47.05 lakh in his spouse name. He has also declared immovable assets worth Rs. 1.17 crore in his name and Rs. 1.50 crore in his spouse name. He has liabilities to the tune of Rs. 40.48 lakh. M. Anbazhagan, former Deputy Mayor, filed nominations as his dummy.
The DMDK candidate for the constituency A. Joseph Jerald and Y. Jamal Mohamed of Welfare Party of India, and Kamal Raj, Independent, too filed their nomination papers for the constituency.
The DMK’s young rising star Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi filed his nomination for Tiruverumbur constituency.
S. Senthil Kumar, DMDK MLA, and Shahul Hameed of Welfare Party of India filed their papers for the constituency.
In Tiruchi East, Jerome Arockiaraj of the Congress and Rohaiyaah Shaik Mohamed of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam filed their papers.
M. Palaniyandi, DMK, filed his nomination for Srirangam apart from two other Independent S. Rajendran and Gnanasekaran. MLA A. Soundarpandian, DMK, and S. Stalin Kumar of DMK filed their nominations for Lalgudi and Thuraiyur respectively.
In Manapparai, Mohamed Nizam of Indian Union Muslim League, A. Leema Roselin of the PMK, and Pandian of Ezuchi Tamizhargal Munnetra Kazhagam filed their papers.
S. Aravind of BJP and M. Babu, DMDK, filed their nominations in Manachanallur while K. Haribaskar of Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi and T.K. Ramajayam, Independent, filed their papers for Musiri.
