Trichy's marriage halls asked to record bookings

March 15, 2014 02:37 pm | Updated May 19, 2016 08:54 am IST - TIRUCHI:

Owners of marriage halls and community centres should maintain a register of all bookings made for marriages and other events, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan has said.

The registers should contain the full details of individuals booking the halls and owners should make the booking only after getting documents such as marriage invitations and family cards of the persons concerned.

Distribution of money, dhotis and saris and other gift articles through marriage halls have been banned. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the respective tahsildhars, Ms.Muralidharan said speaking at a meeting with owners of marriage halls here on Friday. No outsider should be allowed to stay at marriage halls after 5 p.m. on April 22,. Later in a meeting with pawn brokers, Ms.Muralidharan urged them to ensure that no distribution of gift items was done through them. If pledged jewels are redeemed under suspicious circumstances, the concerned pawn broker should inform the respective tashildhars, she said.
