A railway diesel mechanic of Golden Rock Railway Workshop has taken to the streets on his motorbike to spread the message on safe deepavali and offer first aid to the injured.
Srinivasa Prasad carries two boards tied to the front and rear of his moped with details on various fire safety measures, do’s and don’ts of safe deepavali, and treatment for common ailments. He rides his vehicle all through the day covering public places such as schools, bus stands, and market places. He carries a kit and offers first aid to the injured he encounters en route.
The daily trips that began on Ayudha Pooja, will continue till Deepavali, he says.
The boards are changed every few days and he spends his own money on his endeavour, though sometimes he gets sponsorship from passersby and well wishers.
Mr.Prasad, who is also a qualified acupuncturist and trained Siddha practitioner, has been taking the trips every year for the past 14 years during Deepavali season.
His objective is to create awareness on fire safety measures, and provide cure for common ailments and health-related information.
