Three drivers die as bus rams stationary lorry near Tiruchi

Three persons, all drivers, died after an omni bus rammed a stationary lorry on the Tiruchi-Madurai national highway at Kallamedu near Valanadu in the early hours on Tuesday.

The bus was on its way to Udangudi from Chennai when the vehicle hit the sand-laden lorry at around 2.45 a.m.

Police sources said the lorry’s left front wheel got punctured on the highway and its driver Kannan was attending to the problem.

The bus driven by A. Raja Mohamed rammed the stationary lorry from behind.

In the impact, the lorry went over the centre median and Kannan who was attending to the snag died on the spot.

The bus driver Raja Mohamed and spare driver Perumal also died in the collision in which 10 passengers were injured. The Valanadu police have registered a case.
