A large number of devotees offered worship at Sri Akilandeswari - Lord Jambukeswarar temple in Tiruvanaikovil on the occasion of car festival on Thursday.

Amidst religious fervour, the devotees pulled the temple cars. The processional idol of Lord Siva was pulled at about 8 a.m. followed by the second car with Sri Akilandeswari, at about 9.30 a.m. Both cars were brought to rest at about 12.30 p.m. The festival commenced with the hoisting of holy flag on March 9.

Elaborate security arrangements were made by the city police for the smooth conduct of the festival.
