The Teppakulam of Rockfort Sri Thayumanaswamy Temple is poised to get a facelift, with the corporation having completed de-watering of the tank in the last couple of months.
The de-watering of the tank began in October last year and was completed in four months. The work was interrupted by intermittent showers during November.
Now, the corporation has taken up the work of dredging the silt. Before clearing the silt, the entire area needs to be cleared of waste plastics and other materials. “A team of volunteers, particularly college students will carry out the cleaning work, to be taken up on January 31,” officials told The Hindu here on Sunday.
Walls around the tank would be colour washed. The corporation would pump water into it after it was cleared of silt. M. Vijyalakashmi, Corporation Commissioner, inspected the tank recently.
