The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) rule over the past three-and-a-half years has not benefitted the common people, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) treasurer M.K. Stalin said here on Tuesday.
Addressing a party meeting at Kalaignar Arivalayam here, after listening to the views, grievances and demands of the district level functionaries of various wings of the DMK, he called upon the party cadres to carry out a concerted campaign to highlight “the misrule of AIADMK government.”
The “misrule of the ruling party” had ultimately caused poor law and order in the State. The government has failed to ensure peace and security to the people, he alleged
Commenting on the claim of the AIADMK that it had tasted a great victory without forging alliance with anyone in the recently concluded Parliament elections, he charged that the party could not have achieved the success but for the promulgation of prohibitory orders under Sec.144 of the Criminal Procedure Code during the election in the State.
The party cadre should take the message to the people, he said.
Referring to the trial on the disproportionate wealth case against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Mr. Stalin hoped that the case would soon come to an end.
Stating that he had so far toured 11 districts in the State to elicit views of party functionaries for strengthening it, he said he had noted down a number of suggestions from the various functionaries.
Constructive suggestions would be accepted and steps taken to implement them.
K.N. Nehru, district secretary of the party, presided over the meeting.
