A special ‘kolu’ has been arranged at the 1,000-pillar mandapam at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, marking the Navarathiri festival.

Titled ‘Srivaishnavam’, the kolu has been neatly classified into 20 segments, each segment relating to a specific legendary event in the epics. For instance, ‘Choodi kodutha Sudarkodi’ and ‘Sri Andal and Sri Rangamannar’ brings out the devotion of Sri Andal. Dolls on important incidents from the Ramayanam and the Mahabharatham have also been displayed.

Holy incidents associated with Srirangam have also been incorporated in the ‘kolu’. The dolls on ‘Arangamanagarulanae’ bring out the glory of Srirangam as experienced by the Alwars.

The kolu is open from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. till October 3, according to P. Jayaraman, Joint Commissioner of the temple.
