The Co-optex has planned to sell Rs. 20 lakh worth materials during the current Deepavali season in Karur district, according to District Collector J. Uma Maheswari.
Speaking after inaugurating the Co-optex special festival sales here recently, the Collector said that the Co-optex was providing livelihood for lakhs of skilled and unskilled workers who depend on the textile sector in the State .
Moreover, Co-optex has changed with the times and has been reflecting the likes and preferences of the people of all age groups, she noted. Self help groups have been roped in to provide mattresses, beds, cotton pillows . The special sale for the Deepavali, Dussera festivals would be under way up to November 5, she pointed out.
The sale includes offer of discount up to 30 per cent and there was credit facility to both the public and private sector employees based on their pay. The government employees and teachers could utilise their handloom advance and purchase at Co-optex, Dr. Uma Maheswari noted.
