Organised as part of energy conservation week

A save energy campaign booth was inaugurated at Tiruchi railway junction by Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, here on Monday.

It was inaugurated as part of the energy conservation week that concludes on December 14.

A brochure on energy conservation tips was released on the occasion.

Drawing competition for children of railway schools in Tiruchi and Villupuram and quiz and essay competitions for railway staff would form part of the observance.

The division has planned to take up two green energy initiatives – 10 KW solar panel to cater to the power needs of divisional office and a 500-litre capacity solar water heater for Villupuram running room.

To improve energy conservation, the division has replaced tube lights with T5 and CFL lamps.

Streetlights within the railway campus and platform lights have been fitted with timer devices, according to a note issued on the occasion.
